Basically you take a mod that adds Ghosts into the game (like Captain's Edition) and if you see a Ghost in a store, you must purchase them. Doesn't matter if you can't afford it, you must have the latest AI technology. Sell something important.
But that's not all. If you have an AI or two in your crew and you spot another one in store, you must throw away the old AI and buy the new one because it's obviously the latest and you can't be seen with the old system. Rinse and repeat until you either die or you can't afford an AI even if you sell all your weapons and augments.
If you don't want Ghosts, replace it with Engies.
