Exact options needed for Zoltan ship?

Postby Adam Taylor » Fri Sep 21, 2012 10:02 pm

I had this opportunity once before, and even though I picked peaceful answers, apparently one was wrong and the ship attacked me.

Does anyone know EXACTLY what answers are needed?

Unfortunately I think it randomly picks one of the three answers to be the right one every time.

At the first dialogue point, the first answer is correct. For the second point, the "without bloodshed" option is the correct one.

It isn't random... this is one of the easiest ships to get.

Reconcile differences, end this without bloodshed, true progress

pick these and you have unlocked it!

Yeah you have to actually show some compassion and diplomacy, not a token gesture for peace. At least in my head. ;)

I can confirm the above mentioned choices as working for me as well.

I found the Zoltan cruiser ...to be veery difficult to play.
Crew with 70 health, "super" shields that couldn't save it because the offensive stock weapons are so poor.
When I run out of missiles I'm dead.

So it's about trying to get;
- a better crew
- enough missiles
- better weapons before I die

Played with it and parked it.
Any tips to get this ship to shine?

I love this ship its amazing. The halberd beam is amazing it can be used through the entire game and is a great option for killing the boss. Early on against 1 shield ships you can just rake them through the shield hitting 3-4 rooms at once. The key is to start on the edge of a room and just barley touch the another room allowing you to do absurd amounts of damage. As soon as you get some thing like ion weapons to take out shields this beam can one shot some ships.

I tend to try to get 1 extra crew member asap to pilot the ship so I can take advantage of my zultans in powered sections. The only issues you are going to have with zultans is if you are getting hit a lot which won't happen with good use of your shield and a cloaking device and against boarders. Upgrading doors to handle early boarders helps and picking up a few other crew as security is also a good idea.

To keep your shield up you want decent evasion and cloaking. As long as you can maintain your shield long enough to take out their systems you don't have to worry about being boarded except in boarding events. The shield is honestly amazing for reducing the amount of damage you take effectively allowing you to ignore the enemies first attack and possibly their second if your dodge is good or you take out their weapons. I have a lot of fights where my shield doesn't come down or lasts until the tail end of the fight with a good use of stealth.
