It stinks. I just got smacked by an ASB while trying to jump away with engines 4 + Booster. Either the tip about the booster from Twinge is inaccurate, or I also needed an elite engine crew, something a player is never going to have for half the game without engaging in an un-fun grinding exploit.

Not a balance complaint, just thought this deserved its own thread as people had been discussing the FTL Recharge Booster in a few places.

It is vaguely inaccurate. Going by the math in that thread:

Level 6 engines (w/o booster) are sufficient to jump away from an ASB, using a 2.25 FTL charge multiplier.

Level 4 engines with the booster (1.75 + 25%) is a 2.18 FTL charge multiplier.

Generally, an FTL Charge Booster is pretty much a stronger single engine upgrade to FTL charge speed. Not exactly something worth relying on.

It was theory and untested -- and I was largely pointing out how bad the Recharge Booster was in that thread.
