Hi everybody. The above video is just the way I go about things when using The Torus, the engi cruiser. I can say, that it's a real strong cruiser if you know how to use it. End game it gets much harder to defeat other cruisers, and you'll need much more than 1 drone (obviously). A pike beam for one, can very much help with doing some significant hull damage when the shields are down. A missile on top of that, can help with taking the shields down.

Overall, about the actual strategy. The Ion cannon, when fired continuously, can have the sheilds down 99% of the time, constantly. Your shields stop the enemy weapons from being effective, and the Ion cannon can help with this, by evaporating their weapons systems. The drones are either attack or defensive structures, and the attack ones are what you need to actually destroy and wreck havoc among the enemy cruiser.

I kept failing with the default ship so I switched to the Engi ship, found it so much easier.

I beat the final boss with full shields, the default ion weapon and a couple of fast firing lasers. Drones were the main strength, I used one level 2 drone and one level 1 drone.

For the first 2 stages I stayed near full health, in the 3rd stage he'd only got me down to 3/4. This build is incredibly powerful.

With your weapons guy fully leveled up and a faster weapon recharge augment the ion weapon can just mass disable any system he's ready to threaten you with.

You're build sounds similar to what mine was at the end. Died on stage 2 though

Yeah I hesitated with that decision, but decided to go with it anyway. But thanks for that, I'll keep that in mind.

Not always true. Sometimes when you attack the slave ship he does not offer to give you the slave. The only certain way is to pay the price if you are desperate.
