If you have anti-personell drones installed, you get a blue option to use a drone to kill those spiders. you get a much better reward. In the small it chance it fails, you only just lost a drone.

I believe you also get the blue option if you have the Assault Droid. It gets the job done, but they're not very happy with the destruction it causes. Maybe the Anti-Personnel Droid gives a happier outcome.

Once when I got the giant spider thing I had that anti bio beam and it gave me a blue option to use that. I forget what the reward was though.
