Re: Reverse Ion Field(s)

I assume that most everyone here knows that the Reverse Ion Field augment provides a 50% chance of protecting your ship from ion damage (including pulsars). Some of you probably know that having two Reverse Ion Fields prevents 100% percent of all ion damage, since they are 'stackable'. What you might not know is that this protection also extends to the Zoltan shield. I just completed a hard-mode run with the Kestrel-C in which I had two Reverse Ion Fields and a Zoltan shield. When ion weapons hit my Zoltan shield, no damage would occur to the shield, and the 'Resist' word-graphic would show up on the screen instead.

Sure, two Reverse Ion Fields take up two augment slots, but for the run I had, it felt like it was worth it!

I could totally use that for a mod...
I've created Type C Hulls for the enemy Mantis, Slug, Rock, and Zoltan ships, and anyone can use these for a mod.
Check out the details here.

There is a secret crew type found in the game files called "ghost".
Rock crew put out fires slower than other crew.
Zoltan shield protects you from solar flares
You can earn the "battle royal" achievement with a boarding drone if you have a clone bay that is turned off and your crew has not died from the clone bay yet. This also works if the opponent has a clone bay and a personnel drone, and all of their crew has died, and the clone bay is off.
Fire Suppression stacks. If you have 3 fire suppression augments, your ship can put out three rooms on fire at once!

I saw on the FTL subreddit that Rocks supposedly put out fires a little faster than other crew, though still slower than an Engi. Wasn't tested, though. They are slower to get to the fire, if it's in another room.

I was actually going by experience. I was curious because I got stuck in a solar flare and my engines were down. I was using my rock crew to put it out, and it took forever to do, and the fire just kept spreading, so their efforts were useless. Then I got a human in there and BOOM the fires were gone. Also, I guess the statement "rocks put out fire slower than ALL crew" is incorrect, cause mantis are slower.

It's still possible for a Rock to fail a roll to put out a fire. Just because a Human succeeded that time doesn't mean Rocks are worse.

I thought fire extinguishing depended on the Repair skill of the crew in question, with Mantis being the worst because of their hampered repair speed.

Yes, that's what I thought. Someone claimed on Reddit that Rocks have a hidden bonus. No confirmation that I know of.
