Got into an annoying stalemate Here:
Both boarding drones went to their enclosed weapons bays, which as I understand, has a 1/342 chance of happening.
Ran out of missiles (Started with 7) and my laser weapons weren't powerful enough to disable medbay whilst my late HTH crew (1 Rock 1 Mantis) ate.
Started off with a full 8 crew. All died from their crew.
Rip:
1 Rock
1 Mantis
2 Zoltan
2 Humans
2 Engy
With blaming the game:
Would be nice to destroy drones at will;
1/342 Chance
Without blaming the game:
Shouldn't have gone in with sub par ancillary weapons.
Anti-Ship drone.
^Learning experience.
Painful stalemates.

Re: Painful stalemates.
Surely you could target ion their sheilds down and finish them off with lazors?

Re: Painful stalemates.
Or just de-power the boarding drones and re-power them again to send new ones in? Or does that not work with boarding drones?

Yeah the shield can be Ioned down... just target your ion and lasers on it and you'll win eventually.

Re: Painful stalemates.
I tried auto firing the lasers and ion at the shields. But in between their ship cloaking, shots missing, and them repairing, I had no chance.
De-powering the boarding drones doesn't destroy them. I tried that. I wish I could have saved the game state and offered anyone to try and finish it if they could.

Re: Painful stalemates.
I'll go ahead and be that guy:
The chance of this happening is more like 1/50 according to my calculations. ((8/50)*(7/49) = 0,023 assuming every tile of the ship has the same chance to be impacted)
As a last resort, jumping away and reentering the battle on next "turn" would hopefully reset the drones?

Re: Painful stalemates.
I think jumping away would reset them, I used a boarding drone against the boss before and it landed in a weapons room, can't remember what happened to it though, I think it disappeared on the next stage.
You say you had 8 crew? After taking out the weapons, perhaps you could have tried attacking the bridge and shield rooms at the same time, you have a level 3 teleporter, but still it might have been hard to micro. The improved doors make it difficult too, and the cloak can be a bastard with cloaking at the wrong time .
In an earlier game I tried to take out their med bay and teleport guys in to hold it, but it was very difficult to take the med bay down completely, and successive shots tended to miss

Embair, I thought that each room had an equal chance of being impacted and hence how I got my calculations;
(1/19)*(1/18) = 1/342
Didn't think of jumping. I suppose that comes down to being stubborn.

That might well be the case, yeah probably more likely then my assumption. Still, that would make it
(4/19)*(3/18) = 0,035 which is about 1/28!
Edit: the 3 there is asuming that the second drone can never hit a room occupied by the first one, which I'm not so sure is the case either. I guess it leads to the question does the game allow for two breaches in a single room? Haha, the image of both drones hitting the same isolated room, now that would be a bad luck

Re: Painful stalemates.
I see my math failings now haha. Also, think they can both 'breach' the same room but only create one hole per se.
Correct me when I'm wrong, that would then be (4/19)^2 is ~1/22 For them to land in any of the four rooms.
But to land in the same room (any of them) would be (4/19)*(1/19). And i couldmt be bothered boring everyone (read: too lazy to do) but there is less chance of that happening.I Think I'll go to bed. It's 3 AM here.
