The Glaive Beam is incredibly powerful. You can rip a ship apart in seconds once you've taken the shields down. Save it in your third slot ready for when you have the power to use it.

The thing is, I already don't have a problem with taking ships down. Got a great combination of good defense and extremely nice combo of weapons + drones. So, at the moment, I most certainly do not need it.

Just wondering if I'd be crippling myself late game if I sell it.

The game is designed to take multiple paths through it.

If the system you have is working see how far you can take it.

I had a Glaive/Halberd/Bomb Zohan ship with pre-igniters and reload speed buffs which ripped everything apart (most things didn't get to fire a shot at me) until it hit the boss whereby I ran out of missiles and stalemated.

The Glaive is indeed very powerful (and very funny if the enemy has one shield - aiming it at theshield room will inflict one damage, thus taking out the shield and doing the full 3 to all other rooms) but if you don't like it... don't use it. I think you probably made the right choice as you have a lot of good anti-everything and what you really need is a way to take down shields - the beams don't help with that. I'd probably try and find a bomb instead of missiles though or else you'll struggle against the 2nd bit of the final boss (not enough weapons to pierce 4 shields and do damage without missiles which will be shot down).

This is my 7th run since I started playing, all on normal. Reached final sector couple of times, but never the boss, so no idea what to expect. That is why I am so nervous and asking for help so often. I saved all of them since I don't need the money urgently, so we'll see what happens later.

I do have one Hull Missile ready in storage, will that be enough for final boss?

the glaive beam is a godsend against the boss. He will be packing a lot of firepower, so destroying it quickly is important, because you have to do it 3 times and you'll want to not have a crippled ship after the first phase.

I find missiles to be a hindrance against the boss if anything.

*Spoilers*

The boss's second form has a defence drone, so if you've been reliant on a single missile launcher to get past its shields, you're going to get stuck at that point. Whereas, if you use other weapons to get past its shields, the defence drone won't stop you, this is one of the reasons the Glaive Beam is powerful against it, as the boss can still have two shield bars active and the beam will still hurt it, so you can beat the boss with your only offence being a dual laser and the Glaive.
