Boarding ships suggestion

In the recent gameplay vids it showed the teleporter and being able to board other ships and fight the crew. What I was wondering is if there are any benefits to performing this maneouver. E.g. if you kill the entire crew of the enemy ship rather than destroying it can you then steal technology from it or destroy it in a way to make it more salvageable?

Also I was wondering if (and this might not even be possible) you have considered the idea that a player could kill an entire crew and then take that ship forward in the game rather than their orriginal one. That way a slow almost dead ship with a teleporter could do a last ditch attack on a super ship and if they teleport all their people over kill the crew and then take that ship leaving their old one as a wreck in space.

Very interesting thoughts on possible versatility in the teleporter.

Here is a couple of my own; what if you could teleport:
- a bomb
- a drone

In the demo, if you killed off the entire crew you would get much more salvage from the ship.

Why not if you knock there shields off you can transport random ememy crew off there ship and into space lol

Or beam one of their crew into the "Brig" and hope he converts to your crew.

I would imagine its salvage if you capture their ship, that would be cool, like better weps and stuff??

Brilliant Idea, beaming baddies into the black.

alliteration aside, that would be a good "evil" tactic. knock out their shields, beam the crew into space, and tow the ship to the nearest shipyard to sell.

When you sell it, all you get back is salvage :P

I'd prefer a better chance of finding useful items - fuel, missiles, weapons, drone parts. Plus the resolution text can mention stripping the derelict

Or you could crew the captured ship and add it to your escort flotilla.

First we would need the addition of an escort flotilla. Could be fun, more friendly ships, but as a trade off you move slower and will get caught by the rebels more and have to fight tough enemies that you would normally be able to evade. but you also have more firepower and capability. maybe for an FTL universe 4x game down the road? :lol:

That's funny, I was just thinking that Rohk :D

Or how about this, don't staff it, leave a ghost ship (stripped of everything valuable of course) that you have booby trapped to mess with the enemy fleet that you know is coming :D
