Naming : Totally random?

Hello, just registered to the forum to ask that question
first time (OK, maybe second) I played FTL, I named my crew using names from the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" show. So an exciting adventure started (and ended before I even jump a sector, lol) for Xander, Buffy and Willow. At the first store I found, I could recruit a new crew member and behold! There was a human named Giles (Buffy's watcher and teacher, for those unfamiliar with the show)!!!

so... huge coincidence or Easter Egg?

FUN FACT: you can save and quit the game at a store. when you come back, the crew names randomized

One of the perks of funding the game through Kickstarter was that you could choose one name for the crew. I guess some of the backers were fans of Buffy.
