Eyes hurt

Hey all,

I find that my eyes hurt after playing this game.

I previously encountered this problem when playing Diablo 3 without vertical sync. After enabling vertical sync and forcing it to have only 60 refresh rate, my eyes didn't hurt anymore.

But this game only has 60 refresh rate, so the refresh rate isn't the issue.

Has anyone encountered this problem?

Have you ever considered going to a eye doctor? :?

No idea why your eyes hurt when playing. No such complaints before. It would help to change the lighting around your monitor, or maybe tweak the color balance/contrast settings. Also may wanna try sitting further away or clsoer and see if it makes a difference.

Windows 7 at least has a small utility that helps you set the right contrast and brightness settings for your computer.

Keep your screen dark, place the screen as far from your eyes as conveniently possible, and take breaks every now and then.

The game does not have a "60 refresh rate", it computes frames as fast as possible, as much as possible. You have to enable v-sync in order to do a "60 refresh rate".

By the way, don't hesitate to lower the brightness of your screen, especially in a dark room. Screens tend to have very high brightness to look appealing in stores, this does not mean you have to use "full volume" once you are at home. ;)

My eyes hurt if I play with the lights off (any game). Turn the lights on and/or lower the brightness settings.

Folks I don't know if it is due to brightness.

I've played other games fine but not for FTL. I don't think FTL is too bright compared to other games.

Could it be the small text? Would a better resolution help?

Try it. Try anything. This game starts up pretty fast so it shouldn't be a problem to try different graphics settings.

Does anyone have this problem and have solved the issue?

I've enabled vertical sync to lock the refresh to 60, due to a similar problem with Diablo 3.
I have played many many games that are flashier and have better graphics, but no such problems.
