Unhappy with how Zoltan work in the Weapons room

I find the way Zoltan power your weapons room very counter-intuitive and annoying. If you don't get what I'm talking about, I mean that the Zoltan extra power boost can only go towards the first weapon. It seems to be one of the only times where it matters what order your weapons are loaded in. So if you want to depower the first weapon and use the power for another weapon, you actually have to make your Zoltan leave the room...

It's worst when you only have a small number of power bars unlocked for your weapons. If you have a 3 power weapon in slot 2 with a Zoltan and 2 extra reactor power, it feels like you should be able to power that 2nd weapon, but as of now you cannot. Even if you have enough reactor power, you can't power up the second weapon because you can't depower the first.

What is also a partial cause of this problem is that you can't reorder your weapon loadout during combat. I understand that the devs don't want you to have full access to your inventory during combat so you have to choose a loadout, but it would be nice to at least be able to switch their order, if order is going to be important to which things can receive the Zoltan bonus.

Anyone else annoyed by this?

You can reorder your weapons during combat. Just click and drag their boxes in the weapons section. It's pretty funny just watching your weapons switch places on your ship instantly with no explanation.

Its also not the only time the weapon order matters: it determines the order they are disabled if the room takes damage.

What? So the 1st slot wep. is disabled first, then 2nd and 3rd and etc... ?

The other way around. The 1st slot is disabled last. It will function unless the weapons bay takes enough damage so that it can no longer power up the weapon. For example Ion Blast MkII requires 3 power so if you place that weapon in the 1st slot, it will function as long as the weapon system has 3 bars undamaged. Ion Blast MkI only requires 1 power so if you place it in the 1st slot it would be operational until the wapons system was completely destroyed.

It's a good idea to keep your most important or least power hungry weapon in the 1st slot.

Zoltan crewmembers add to the confusion. They give their free power bonus to the weapon in the 1st slot. You can reorder your weapons to make use of this. For example using a weapon that only requires 1 power in the 1st slot and having a Zoltan in the weapons bay would make that weapon immune to ion effects, since the Zoltan free power bonus would keep the weapon on line.
