Re: [Squad] Voltaic Constructs v1.0
It is no exaggeration to say that this is probably one of the best MODs of ITB. I actually saw a post about this MOD most of the year ago, but never played it because its art style is just too un-ITB.
There are quite a few MODs that offer Mechs that rely on deployed units to fight, and Hoagall is the best designed one in my opinion. Although the deployment Exie can eat the foot spawning tile seems a bit OP (especially with Archimedes), the interesting movement restrictions balance it to a reasonable level.
As for Krijyl, its attack animation is just so damn cool. I really like it!

However, I think this squad is too strong in blocking enemy spawning, and once it enters an advantageous situation it can rely on blocking to make the rest of the turn into garbage time, which is slightly boring.

It's years after the release, but I've also started a (commentated) playthrough of the mod:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49dcP2O ... &index=123
Neat adaptations of the platformer enemies' patterns into Into the Breach mech weapons.
I didn't end up getting a lot of mileage out of either the Armored Exie option (too many Alpha enemy attacks deal 2+ damage so 1 HP and 1 armor doesn't do much), or the +1 damage option for the Photon Foil since a lot of other weapons can either hit multiple targets or get more efficient damage upgrades if you want single-target damage.
Still, the squad worked together very well and the Hoagall + Exies are a very powerful counterpart to the vanilla game's Light Tanks. Hoagall's low move balances this out a little bit but throwing in free chasm tiles on top of that makes it a pretty powerful mech - which does really justify that 4 core cost for fire, it's strong enough even without it but becomes ludicrously powerful once the fire is online.
Very fun to play on Hard mode, and I think this squad would have reasonable chances on Unfair mode too.
