Are Hazardous Mechs viable?

Is this squad capable of doing anything? I can handle its damage to self. But what I can't handle is how the leapy dude's landing damages friendlies and likewise shooty dude's recoil will also. These combined make it really hard to fight without doing more damage to yourself or your grid than the vek do.

Of course they're viable. In fact they're one of my favorite squads. Here's me doing well with them on Hard (presumably, I didn't watch it but it's 5 episodes long which implies I probably at least made it to island 4, if not also won the game) .
