I used the unreleased ComaToes saved game editor to give myself 12 crew members, but FTL crashed immediately upon continuing.

9 is "stable" but will crash on any event that tries to give you a new crewmember (slave rescues, Charlie pickup, etc). 10+ just crashes outright.

Hijacking this thread to ask a question - is there any way to implement race-specific name lists? Am not seeing anything obvious.

Sadly, answer to this one is also no. Names for all crew of any race (and the bad-guys too, in fact) all get pulled from the same list.
