Not that I hate this... but can someone tell me why we got all these random awesome weapons popping up suddenly?

makes me feel like I should post my ones more often...

Takes less effort for me to make lots of weapons than it does for me to make a ship.

That's exactly why there's more weapons coming up, because it makes EVERYBODY want to post more! When there's more weapons, it makes more people want to make them, which leads to even more weapons. There's practically an exponential growth in weapons because of this cascade effect of more and more people wanting to make them. Does that make any sort of sense?

I need some thoughts for a large artillery weapon, perhaps something pirates would use, that can take up the space of this image:

This will be considered. Gentlemen, let's go break physics by putting a flammenwerfer in space.

For now, this ship will have a giant burst missile, but the 3rd variant will definitely have this.

Fire can exist in space... and FTL doesn't really hold much against it. what do you see when ships explode in space in FTL? big balls of fire. oh that and missiles and ships leave flames behind (kestrel specificity... even though it should be virtually clear in space)

Anyway either way if you look at it as you throwing big balls of burning gas or plasma. it still would make sense...

True enough.

Vortex, here's an idea:

Chrono Cannon - laser weapon? No hull/system damage. Ionizes systems, applies crystal lockdown effect to room, injures and stuns crew for extended time.

Isn't that a little bit over the top?... I think the stun isn't that much of a need at least...

There's no kill like overkill.
