awesome its working fine now i already build a ship.

and the game crashed when i tried to use (standard) weapons.
no picture appears in the weapon selection/targeting system.

its says runtime error!

Program:c:\program 86x\steam\steamapps /\commom\ftl faster than light\ FTL game,exe

this application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
please contact the application's support team for more information.

anyone know what this is?

Have you packed the .ftl file yourself, or did you just export the ship from superluminal and patched that into the game?
In case of the former, it may be either wrong directory structure, or you're using a whole .xml file instead of a .xml.append

If you've edited it by hand, you may have put something in the wrong place, or named a file wrong (generally all non-shipname files should have the .xml.append extension)
Typos in the xml files are also quite likely cause of crashes.

Check out: http://ftlwiki.com/wiki/Modding_Ships
and
viewtopic.php?f=12&t=14334&p=44767#p44766

That might explain a lot about how ship modding works and how to pack files. Take it step by step, it's very easy to make multiple changes and end up with a mod that crashes. Finding the problem can be very hard when you have no clue what change caused it. There will be crashes. :D
