The Nebula Frigate

Postby Luszor2 » Tue Feb 09, 2021 3:09 pm

Hello and welcome to yet another creation of mine! This time I'm presenting you the ship that loves to play Hide&Seek, the best hunter available in the entire galaxy... Behold The Nebula Frigate!!!

This spaceship is FAR from being a Slug Cruiser, even if it looks like one, hidden within nebula clouds... the vessel is equipped with unique Dust Engines, which are more efficient at protecting the ship as they generate some clouds around the frigate, making it less visible. Their effectiveness and the way they work makes them easier and cheaper to upgrade, since all they do is make more dust! Nebula Dispenser is yet another thing, that is basically bread&butter of this ship - it opens up hidden storages within the hull to release huge amounts of dust. That results in a huge, artificial nebula which covers the ship completely and renders it impossible to target. It has superior max potential to normal Cloaking systems and with Backup Battery at your disposal, you will find yourself having no problems with powering both the Dispenser and Hacking the ship starts out with! What's more, O2 system is strong enough to support your crew movement between the rooms of the ship!

Sadly, frigate is not a cruiser. It has less hull plating - our engineers had to remove it in order to ensure you can have at least 3 weapon slots. The big size of Nebula Dispenser limits capabilities of drone control to two drones, which means you have slightly limited offensive capabilities. There are many rumours about people being devoured by the nebula around the frigate and tales about them suddenly becoming "stuck". Giving simple orders and waiting for them to be carried out before you give another batch of orders should let your crew avoid such fate, however.

Anyway, let us sum up the advantages and disadvantages of this frigate.

Pros:
- Nebula Dispenser - can cloak your ship up to 30 seconds and begins with Level 2,
- Dust Engines - 10% lower upgrade cost,
- Hacking - will allow you to get through tougher ships, should your weaponry be not enough,
- Dual Laser + Mini Beam combo - great start that will beat ships up to Sector 4 most of the time.
- Backup Battery - Enough to immediately, fully power your Nebula Dispenser and stays up for 30 seconds - the maximum amount of time your Nebula Dispenser can stay up for,
- Augments - Stealth Weapons and FTL Jammer will allow you to fire at will during the cloak and will ensure your enemies cannot get away, respectively, while Long Range Scanners will let you travel through nebulas efficiently, finding quickly your points of interest.
- Slug crew - 2 crewmembers are slugs, giving you yet another advantage in Nebulae, where your Sensors would not work. That, and provides some immunity to Mind Control, preventing your dodges from experiencing a shutdown,
- Powerful O2 system - starts out with Level 2 immediately, preventing Slug oxygen hack from ever getting you killed.
- Many vents - there's almost no room safe from instant venting on this ship, letting you control boarders all the time!
- You can make a nebula ANYWHERE you want - who wouldn't want that?

Cons:
- Low Hull - only 20 Hull will force you to dodge and "NOPE" enemies more in order to avoid destruction,
- Mysterious layout - makes travelling from some rooms take longer time for crew and might be a bit confusing for someone new to the ship,
- Limited slots - 3 weapon slots and 2 drone slots will limit your firepower somewhat. On plus side, you can put in some more money into much stronger weaponry, thanks to Cloaking that will allow even weapons with longest cooldowns to prepare,
- No Sensors in the beginning - not really a big problem, but they are known to sometimes give blue options.

I think that is all I could say about the ship! Good luck and have fun hunting Rebels from the depths of the Nebula!

DOES NOT REQUIRE HYPERSPACE!!!
