In the ancient days of space travel, back when the only known alien species were the engi and rockets were still more common than proper starships, the federation had began work on a technology that would allow them to cause "spacequakes". By resonating with a ship's hull or systems before massively increasing the resonanant frequency's volume, particle cannons could be configured to inflict massive amounts of damage, on par with that of a direct solar flare strike -- something that had slain many crews in the past.
This ancient cruiser was modified to use such awe-inspiring power. With a pair of cannons tunned to opposing frequencies, the ship was almost deployed nearly 2000 years before the rebellion. However, new safety guidelines demanded by a newly discovered alien race -- the zoltan -- forbade the humans from using tectonic weaponnry. In secret, the ship was constantly retooled and updated, maintained by a private hangar. It was a dynastinian duty that lasted for 1998 years... Until word of rebellion spread like wildfire.
The Resonant Ship, derelict for nearly 2000 years, was quickly to be thrust into war. The crews barely had time to reactivate the shield matrix when the word was issued, and the reactor was... Well, it could mostly power everything. Ships had shrunk in size in the past hundred years, but the Resonant Ship was as large as the city ships that were so common during its time. Before long, the ship left its millenia-old home, and now it can be found in one of the last federation hangars, receiving information for its first mission at long last.

Sorry, folks, I felt like getting artsy with this ship. Anyways, this is the Resonance Cruiser! Ever wanted to create earthquakes in space? How about creating earthquakes inside an enemy ship? If you answered "yes" to either of those questions, then this is the ship for you!
The Resonance Cruiser comes with no standard weapons or drones, but comes with every system you could want (excluding mind control, clonebay, and teleporter -- sorry, boarding peeps). Its starting outfit is a pair of artilleries: The Hullquake and the Systemquake. The Hullquake fires once every 20 seconds, inflicting up to 7 normal damage and causing a lot of breaches. The Systemquake fires once every 10 seconds, inflicting up to 5 system damage and stunning enemy crew. Both weapons ignore shields, and the Systemquake even ignores supershields!

Starting systems are very generous, since you get everything except clonebay, mind control, and teleporter. Yes, this means you get artillery, cloak, and hacking, plus weapon and drone systems. Will you use everything? Likely not, but options are options. You also get 60 hull -- double the normal amount, thanks to the fact that the ship was built back when ships were less often protected by shielding and thus had to take the brunt of stuff like solar flares.
The downsides are 1) You don't start with enough power to power everything, and 2) You have no controllable way of dealing damage right off the bat. The artiillery is your only method of dealing damage (though you can use cloaking and hacking to mitigate the damage you take early on). The ship is also a bit hard to vent towards the middle, and your starting crew is 2 humans, an engi, and a zoltan -- meaning that boarders will be a pain to deal with.

Overall, I'd say this ship is pretty damn overpowered, but sometimes you just want to make hard feel like easy, y'know?
