[Taking Requests] Mod showcase videos

Hello modding community,

Not sure if this is the right place or not to post this,(any moderator is free to move it if so...,) but I know I'm at the source of things here.

For those not knowing, I run a youtube channel with FTL being the game featured most of all on it. And more precise modded FTL.

I recently kicked off season 3 of the mod showcases.

And rather than me cherry picking what mods I showcase, I thought I might as well outsource it (partially) to the community itself.
So in general, if you have or know a mod you'd like to have showcased, feel free to drop a link to it below. Doesn't matter whether it's an entire overhaul or just a single ship.

There's a few "rules" to it :
1. It has to be AE compatible.
2. I state my own opinion about it, but you may suggest noteworthy things like suggested strategy and such.
3. Depending how well this kicks off, be patient. I've got a schedule of 5 episodes a week and I'm not planning on changing it. So if the backlog gets big, it could be awhile until your suggestion kicks in.
4. I don't do the same shipmod 2x (unless it's my own :mrgreen: ) and if I die, I die... (Only applies when I get past sector 3)
5. Co-commentary is possible if you want to talk/explain some things of your mod. Just be sure to let me know if you want in and we can see if our schedule has common grounds.
6. I don't do the same author/creator back to back, so if you suggest multiple ones by the same person, there will be a different showcase slot in between.

And that's basically it. I know fully well that I probably won't be able to take nothing but suggestions, but I thought this would give people the chance to get a showcase video if they want one and also get to see someone else play with the ship along with showcasing the mod on youtube itself naturally. But as I said, I will cherry pick if I have no requests waiting.

GO BALLISTIC! weapon expansion pack by me please? ^^;

It just adds ballistic weapons with there own sound affects and art- in comparison to lasers they have no chance of starting fires on the standard autocannons but they can have a low chance to breach. On top of that they are also very common, cheap, and is mainly designed for fillers in builds (how many times you hit a store and it wants to offer you a very energy heavy and expensive weapon instead of something that can be practically used on your ship? go ballistic allows cheap weapons to easily fill in that last weapon slot and if you want to get rid of it as soon as you see a burst laser II then you can sell it- it doesn't cost much thus you loose less then an event that gone wrong (ie supplies stolen))

Autocannons (in short), simular to a basic laser, the higher the mark the higher energy requirement it has and faster fire rate- fires 1 shot.
Ultra autocannons (in short), same as above in all ways besides looks... oh and it fires 1 shots
Rotary Autocannons (in short), kinda like a poor mans Vulcan.
LB-X Autocannon (in short) is like a flak version of the autocannon, fires a 'shotgun' like affect where more power / higher mark increases projectile count instead of fire rate and does double damage to systems (so hit a system room it's 2 sys damage 1 hull damage) and slightly better at hitting people)
Machine gun (in short), 15 crew damage, can't do anything else (no breach, fire, shield, etc), fires once every 4 to 3 seconds (depends on mk) but for 0 power (note, you need to power at least 1 weapon for this to fire, if you do not then it simply 'saves' it's shots up until you do- meaning as soon as the room gets powered and say it's been 10 seconds of shooting it will shoot quickly 3 shots and then continue shooting normally)
Heavy machine gun (in short) 30 crew damage, shoots once in 5 to 4 seconds (depend on mk) but 1 power
Light autocannon (will edit this thing a bit later on, not pleased with it.)

Gauss rifle does 1-2 damage and pierces 1-2 shields depending on mk, also high velocity
coil gun = similar but instead of higher shield piercing and damage it simply goes for higher rate of fire


I will update this before you try it- will add more light autocannons and do something different with them and may start adding blue events to these things (specifically gauss rifles and coil gun), Will also add a machine gun array and more drones however it depends when you want to do this mod sooner or later. (unless you planning on using it twice? well it isn't a ship mod and the few ship mods I got in the works are using this mod so I guess you will have to use it a bit if you want to showcase my upcoming ship mods) Depends...

The whole release of the gauss rifles and such was mainly awaiting a later update with blue events for ranged combat (ie instead of simply going in to chase the pirate away from the civilian, you can shoot it at range, resulting in A: yay, it died because we got a critical blow!, B: we hit it, it is now weaker then before, time for combat!, C: we scared it away and civilian gives us larger reward, D: miss and get his attention. (more or less)
Also making MG's work in the giant alien spiders event.

So yea...

Alright, you've got some time left as I will need a new episode on Wednesday next week.
I'll probably do this one without CE to increase the chance of finding the new weaponry.
And if bad comes to worse I can always get them through the Mod Testing Environment or let a ship start with a few.

No worries, I also got a patch mod that gives the Kestrel type A and B the ballistic weapons as well as Federation Cruiser A and B and the C got a LBX-artillery weapon.
However after patch 1.2 I was planning on giving the stealth cruisers the new gauss rifles, the machine gun to the fed cruiser C, and so on.

Do you think you could try out my C&C weapons when you get the chance? I'm sure they still have some balancing issues and I don't really have the time to go through all the weapons again, not to mention the mount points. I could really use a second opinion.

Mod showcase? Well I'm looking for something else to watch while playing an idle game or waiting for a match in League of Legends. :)

Anyway, can I suggest you try out the Scrin Planetary Assault Carrier?

Unlike other ships where drones are optional or you start with them and throw them away from some proper guns, the Scrin Carrier makes it mandatory. Load up with six of the best drones you can find and go bring death to the Rebellion.
Oh and don't buy a Weapons system. You only get one slot for guns. Best use that slot for something useful.

Awh man, there goes my 5drone/1wep idea...
(kinda, I may do it anyways)

Bio- I know the vids aren't up yet but I'm guessing you're done recording? Have you any more feedback/quick change notes on the tardis? Thinking of making a quick patch mid-week.




Also, do you think your current run will take you through to Halloween?
