FTL : SUPREMACY
Posted: Thu Jun 18, 2015 9:17 pm
PLEASE NOTE: NEW 1.0 RELEASE FOR 2020
FTL:SUPREMACY v1.0 (January 2020) is a completely new total overhaul mod I created from scratch for the latest version (1.6.12) of FTL. It is my most comprehensive world overhaul for the game to date, and entirely different from all previous FTL:SUPREMACY releases. Also, the mod is now localized for all ten available game languages (English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portugese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese).
INTRODUCTION
FTL:SUPREMACY aspires to fine-tune and expand FTL to be even more fun, to intensify and extend the experience while staying true to the game's excellent original concept, style, canon, and lore.
The mod offers you a comprehensively overhauled and meticulously rebalanced game world, with e.g. tougher and more varied enemies, better equipment, added commercial opportunities, variable fleet pursuit (facilitating prolonged exploration), viable missile and drone use, incentivized nebulae expeditions, and much more.
There are thousands of careful and moderate technical, contextual, and aesthetic fixes, adjustments, and additions, each one aimed at kicking your FTL space adventure into high gear.
Please see the KEY FEATURES or CHANGELOG sections below for more detailed contents listing, or jump right in and take FTL:SUPREMACY for a spin, to experience the modification first hand (recommended).
Enjoy, and thanks for playing!
KEY FEATURES
- Comprehensively overhauled and meticulously rebalanced game world, providing an extended and intensified FTL experience, yet strictly adhering to the game's original concept, style, canon, and lore.
- Every game aspect is adjusted for a novel gameplay balance, from player and NPC ship layouts, over equipment specifications, prices, and rarities, up to event chances, choices, and outcomes.
- Overall energy requirements for weapons and drones are decreased to facilitate heavier and better armament within the restrictions of generally rather limited available ship reactor power.
- Consumable resources like fuel, missiles, and drone parts are less expensive and more readily available throughout the galaxy, allowing further sector exploration as well as viable missile and drone use.
- Purchasing drone schematics as well as buying and upgrading drone control systems is less expensive, and drones are made more powerful in general, further incentivizing their more frequent utilization.
- Player and enemies / NPC share the same technology, with identical capabilities and restrictions (e.g. there are no longer enemy ships with five shield layers or ten weapon bars), for a bit more fairness.
- Fine-tuned sector compositions and properties, event occurrences and uniqueness, added events and event options, as well as delayed fleet pursuit provide new variety, challenges, and opportunities.
- A moderately extended arsenal of available ship equipment, with new weapons, drones, and an extra playable race; offering additional options in both player and NPC ship armament and crew compositions.
- Every weapon, drone, and augmentation is accessible via starting equipment of unlocked player ships, so unlocking all playable ships also makes all equipment available and viewable in the hangar.
- The number of different ship designs and layouts is increased considerably (there are now over 300 unique ships in total) to provide much more gameplay variety, i.e. in ship-to-ship battles.
- New high-resolution deep space, planetary, and nebula background images; overhauled UI, ship, equipment, and visual effects graphics; extended crew color customizations; adjusted and new sound effects.
- Thousands of fixes, e.g. for erroneous events and event options, contextual inconsistencies, technical errors and bugs, audio-visual inadequacies, typos and grammar, other small shortcomings, etc.
REQUIREMENTS & INSTALLATION
- Requires FTL Faster Than Light (Advanced Edition) v1.6.12 for Mac, Linux, or Windows (for game information and purchase options, please visit http://subsetgames.com/ftl.html).
- Compatible with both default as well as "Advanced Edition" play styles (works with or without "Advanced Edition Content" being enabled or disabled in-game).
- Fully localized for all ten available game languages (English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Polish, Brazilian Portugese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, and Japanese).
- Easy installation with latest release of the "Slipstream Mod Manager" utility (v1.9.1, included) by Vhati (for details, please visit http://subsetgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17102).

CHANGELOG
KNOWN ISSUES
- Boarding, Ion Intruder, and Hacking drone flight animations repeatedly rotate / flip the drone image (bug in vanilla FTL).
- NPC ship escape time is irrespective of engine level / damage status, and either too fast or too slow (bug in vanilla FTL).
- Player Defense and Anti-Combat Drones are less effective in protecting the frontmost part of the ship (bug in vanilla FTL).
- Asteroid fields may cause severe game lag. Turning off dynamic backgrounds is the only workaround (bug in vanilla FTL).
- With dynamic backgrounds turned off (see above), planets may appear in front of asteroid fields (bug in vanilla FTL).
- On player ships with four drone slots, the game does not provide a keyboard shortcut for the fourth slot (game limitation).
- Player ships with two weapon slots have no Autofire button and must use the modifier key to auto-fire a weapon (game limitation).
- Level three Backup Battery provides six bonus power, which may lead to occasionally odd reactor status graphics (game limitation).
CREDITS & THANKS
- Made possible due to the excellent creative work of Matthew Davis, Justin Ma, and associates at Subset Games.
- Easy mod installation, validation, and setup provided through the included "Slipstream Mod Manager" tool by Vhati.
- Much information and inspiration from e.g. subsetgames.com, ftl.wikia.com, ftlwiki.com, and various FTL streamers.
- Simple ship layout editing done with the help of kartoFlane's "Superluminal Ship Editor 2" utility (and guides).
- Black Raven, Engi and Lanius Fighter, Fed Bomber graphics from Woona's "Vicious Vessels" (used with permission).
- Deep space and planetary images from public domain (e.g. Hubble, STScI, AURA, NASA, ESA).
- No aliens were harmed during the making of this mod.
