Not a custom ship request, but how would one go about creating gibs? I have yet to figure it out.

I'm sorry but I can't say I do. I believe you need a specific program for it, but to be honest, they only really matter when you're programing an enemy ship, because it doesn't break your immersion if a player controlled ship doesn't break into gibs because you die anyway.
But if you're aiming to make enemy ships then I recommend viewing a youtube tutorial.

The assigning of gibs is done in XML. If you're looking to create custom gibs, take a look at the vanilla ones and use them as references.

Random request here:
A ship that a small fleet of 1-3 room small ships, which crew can run between. That's about all.

Heh, I had the same idea for a custom ship. Because the Monado would make an awesome ship (Buster Artillery!)
Although nowadays I'm thinking of Melia's Empress Staff or something so I can shout "Summon Bolt!" constantly when I fire an ion cannon or "Star searing blaze of absolution!" for a firebomb.
