(Ship Compiliation) 5 Future Armada Ships for FTL

Postby Silveressa » Thu Jul 17, 2014 7:32 pm

This mod is a small group of starships from the Future Armada series, produced by Ryan Wolfe at O-Hour Art & Technology http://0-hr.com/

When appropriate, I attempted to keep with the original design theme by Ryan in so far as the ships purpose, and make them each unique without seriously altering game balance.

The ships are designed to be use on the normal or hard difficulty, or with DrkTemplar's infinite space mod viewtopic.php?f=12&t=3542

If this mod becomes popular I will release an update with more ships from the Future Armada series at a later date.

Download here: http://www.nexusmods.com/fasterthanlight/mods/uploadwizard/?step=3.1&id=7

The ships are:

The Cygnus:
A science and research vessel with improved sensors, increased hull durability (10 points more) and electronic warfare capability.

The Drake
A heavy drone ship with an artillery beam and drone recovery augmentation.

The Gryphon
A multi role vessel with slightly improved hull (5 more points) repair drones and nano medical enhancement.

The Kintaro
A super fast yacht with vastly improved engines and ftl capability as well as an enlarged medbay, but at the cost of reduced hull durability (5 less points) and a limited amount of weapon and drone slots. (2 of each)

The Lakota Dove

A boarding specialists ship with bomb deployers, a clone bay and regenerative teleporters.

If anyone has any specific requests from Ryans Future Armada collection post here and let me know, and I'll include them in the next ship compilation.

It's been a few months since the release and I was wondering if anyone had any feedback in regards to game balance and over all fun before I release the next ship compilation?

Well I think pretty much all off them have quite an array of systems, weapons, and/or drones already unlocked. (in some cases those equipment alone makes you set to kill the boss...)

However I can see where you are going at with the weapons.

personally I do not use mods to often that is quite far from the general theme of FTL art style.

However do not feel bad. Even though no one commented much on this thread it doesn't mean no one used it. There are quite a few players that do use mods but do not have a forum account thus never talk.

Aye, they are meant mostly for use with the infinite space mod on hard difficulty, where the extra gear is off set by the more challenging encounters and infinite exploration approach.

For the main game they are better loaded than the vanilla ships, but like you said, I tried to give them each a specialty to cater to different play styles and give people that have already mastered the vanilla ships something to to experience that was notably different than the normal minimalist load-out the vanilla ships come with.

With 553 unique downloads on Nexus I figure it's popular enough to warrant a second ship pack with some more of Ryan Wolfe's vessels. Also if there's any interest I can also include a minimalist pack with all of the ships from the 1st pack included but with less equipment pre-installed for those who seek a greater challenge.

I am not a fan off non-vanilla rooms or pics so far from vanilla art style but I think this looks cool and with IS it can go pretty well. I reclaim my comment stating it is OP.
