Hello, and welcome to my first mod :D

This is just a first noobie mod of sorts, so don't expect great game changing quality, with tons of new addons and stuff, it is mostly just a ship mod, to get me familiar with FTL modding in general. I've been a fan of FTL for a long time, since 2012, and I've loved it ever since, and loved it even more, due to the amazing modding community, and with mods that make the game even better, like Captain's Edition, Descent Into Darkness, Omicron Dynasty, and Infinite Space, but enough of my rampant fanboying, let's get into the actual details of this mod

The Charming Demon is a fairly simple mod. It's mostly just a Federation bomber, painted like a common pirate vessel. Again, it's more of a test mod. It replaces the Kestrel A, and requires Captain's Edition (maybe it'll work without it, I'll test it later). Nothing too special, other than it starts without doors and sensors.
It requires Slipstream Mod Manager, like all current mods (from what I know).

And now it's time for the long, probably useless, but fun to write backstory! :D

Drifting in space, it was once a derelict vessel, with it's crew vaporized by bio beams from a Slug ship, with it's sensors and doors, damaged beyond repair. On one fateful day, three mercenaries, traveling in a small Federation scout cruiser, outfitted with traditional purple pirate paint, stumbled upon this derelict ship.
"Oi! If you don't wanna be blasted to bits, hand over 26 scrap, then you can continue on your way." Said the pilot/captain of the pirate vessel. After a few minutes, the captain sent another transmission to the derelict ship. "What you standin' there for? What are you, a lemon? Respond back, you pansies!" The engineer and shields operator of the ship, walked to the cockpit, and told the captain, "Um, sir, there's no signs of life on that ship." The captain turned around and said, "You telling me, I've been sitting here for the past nine minutes, talking to an empty boat?!" The engineer nods his head, while the captain just looks at the derelict ship, embarrassed. But then he got an idea. "Waaaaait, if that's an empty ship, then it's ripe for the taking is it not? That thing is much bigger than this piece of shite we got!" The engineer then said, "We could, we could. And perhaps we should." The captain, grinned as he said on the innercom, to the weapons operator, "Oi! We're gonna go on a new ship! Better pack ya stuff, Agent." After a few minutes, the belongings of the three crew members were packed, then they docked onto the ship. Putting on crude space suits, they floated to the airlocks of the derelict ship, leaving their old vessel. "The air here seems.. Breathable? Perhaps, the life support system is still online." "Sweet!" the captain said, as he took off his helmet. He sniffed the air and said, "It smells like a dump. Just like home." He grinned as he darted to the cockpit, finding the gooey remains of the previous captain. "Ahh, sick!" he said, as he turned around, trying not to vomit. "Maaaaage!" he screamed, for the shields operator. "Clean up this mess, would ya? I can't pilot a ship, while sitting on a pile of mush." The shields operator, ran to the cockpit, and inspected the mess. "Hmmm. This couldn't have been done by boarders. It must have been a beam." "Whatever, whatever." the captain said, "Just clean it up, dump it near the airlock, and blast it. And someone get some air freshener, it smells like a dead Slug here."

After an hour, of unpacking their belongings, and cleaning up the ship, scooping up the goo that was once the old crew, and dumping it into space, the mercenary crew had a new home. "So, what should we call it?" Said the weapons operator. "Hmmmm. How about The Charming Demon?" Said the captain. "Naming after your love, eh?" Said the shields operator, then the captain said "Like always, I let Agent name the old ship, the Chinese Gatekeeper." "Yep, you did!" Said the weapons operator. "Soooo, anyone wanna tell me why I can't see crap on this view screen? Or why the doors have to be opened manually?" Said the captain, to the shields operator. "Com'on, Mage, you were a scientist, you gotta know that." "It doesn't take a mad scientist to know that the doors and sensors systems are broken beyond repair." Said the shields operator to the captain. "They aaaaare? Well, dammit. Now we're gonna have to buy new crap. And some paint, I wanna give this ship my personal touch." Said the captain. "I'll set course to the nearest shop, surely we can pick up some stuff there." Said the captain, before he walked into the cockpit.

After a few jumps to the nearest store, the crew walked out of the now named, Charming Demon. The shields operator went to go get repairs, and new weapons for the vessel, while the captain gleefully went to the nearest painter. "Dammit, they don't sell sensors or door systems here." Said the shields operator. "But I did manage to get a standard Federation missile launcher, and a standard Federation burst laser. We should be fine, for a while." "Ah, screw that! I got green and blue paint! NOW we're set!" Said the captain, holding a can of blue paint in one hand, and a can of green paint in the other hand. "I'm gonna get to paintin'! You put those guns on the ship." The captain said, before running towards the ship, giggling. After some time, the shields operator discovered some archived information aboard the ship. It appeared to be confidential information, involving the Federation, the location of the last standing Federation base, and a Rebel super weapon. Shocked by finding this, the shields operator rushed to the captain. "Tyrant! Tyrant!" "What is it?" The captain says, while still painting the ship. Before the shields operator can tell him, an alarm goes off at the station. Ships start leaving immediately, as a Rebel fleet appears visible. "Crap! No time to talk now, Mage, we gotta gooooo!" The captain, dropping the paint brushes and cans he had, runs into the ship, as the shields operator runs into the ship as well, as the captain frantically starts the engines, and flies off, avoiding the Rebel fleet. "Why the hell are they here for?! I thought the Rebels were fighting the Feds, not some backwater trade station!" The captain says, panicking. "That's what I was trying to tell you! There's information on this ship, vital to the Federation. They're probably after us now." The shield operator says the panicking captain. "We what?! Throw that crap out! I don't wanna get blasted by those crazy psychos!" "You don't want to help the Federation?" Says the shields operator to the captain. "And become the enemies of the now biggest force in the known galaxy that are nothing more than a bunch crazed lunatics? No thanks!!" The captain says, while plotting a course to the nearest safe beacon. "But think about it. I'm sure the Federation would gladly pay us. I mean, they are the Federation." The shields operator says the captain. "... Scrap, you say? I'll think about it.." The captain then starts grinning. "Yes! Yes! Let's go save the Feds! Because mistress knows how much they will pay us! I want enough scrap to make a house, dammit! I want to baaaathe in scrap." The captain says, as he pulls up a map. "So, the Federation base is this far, eh? Let's make ourselves a legend!" The captain says, raising his fist in the air. "That's the spirit, captain." The shields operator says, before going to the shields system. "Oh yes, This better be worth it, Feds. You owe us." The captains says, before jumping to another beacon. Beginning their quest.

Long? Maybe, unnecessary? Perhaps. Fun to write? Hell yeah. Anyway, time for the screenshots, and download link :)

Do you have CE installed? He did say it required it. Also, nice ship even though it is old.

I don't see how it could related to your game or the mod itself then, as it appears to be working fine for him. My only idea is that you may be using installing incorrectly.

It has no floor image. (Charming Demon base_floor.png)

I don't know why that causes a black box for some people and not others.

I also noticed that the drone system has no slots, meaning it is a waste of money to buy it.

Given that there are no rooms left, it should also be noted that the ship can't have a cloaking system.

The four empty rooms are for doors, sensors, teleporter, and drones.

I've definitely heard of this problem, and I will find a way to fix this, I'll search around. It works fine with me. Do you have it before or after Captain's Edition on your loader? I have it before CE, and it seems to work fine.

Yeah, I don't know why either.
Oops, I guess I forgot to add drone slots  Sorry, I'll fix that in a newer version
And there is no cloaking. If it is requested, I will try and find a way to add cloaking, even if I basically exhausted the amount of rooms possible on a ship this small-ish. If cloaking is requested, I'll try and work it in, somehow.

You have 3 rooms of 4x4 size you can split into two, if you want.
