Are you using a save made before the update to 1.212? And are you sure your mod load order is correct?

While both FTL and EVE involve losing a large amount of ships at a very quick pace, they are indeed completely different.

But an FTL-like game could work as a simplified MMO, where all encounters are actually another player.

Yeah, that's the main problem with it, and it also affects the Trade module from CE :/
