FTL:Skillgame is coming. ETA end of Jan. 2014 Complete gameplay revamp. Design phase is complete, mod is being worked on by 4 people atm (including myself). I do not know how to make the animation in mod :) From what I remember, animated engines are hardcoded, so not really possible.
