Re: Nebulas - Yay or Nay

I seem to have a perception that nebulas are less likely to have events/ship in them than non-nebulas. But i might be wrong (humans are very bad at perceiving chances of random events). Storms are actually very good, if you know two things: - energy is rounded up - zoltan are unaffected. This means ...

Re: This ship is bananas (B A N A N A S)

Yeah, its nice if it'd have Space Rangers-like difficulty sytem, where you chose how hard do you want enemies to be, how much scrap to get, etc, and summarily this defines how hard your difficulty is (and multiplier to your score)

Re: Experiences from games and pointers for future developme

This game is based on luck, but right now i am winning 100% of my Normal games (i only restart the game if i get screwed up badly in the first several encounters), even though i have done only around ~30 playthroughs. I dont play wierd ships, like Torus B, Mantis B etc, but even those, i bet, i'd on...

Re: [MOD] Disable Fleet (FTL file)

Well, unfortunately this will screw balance into player's favor. What rebel fleet does is basically limit the amount of beacons you can visit in one sector. In first two sectors it is especially limiting because you mostly cannot afford to fight rebel elite encounters (which means you'd rather misca...

Re: Modding Rules - PLEASE READ (it's short)

If you're just using the player ship as enemy ship, cannot you just make a .bat file or something that copies the file on the user machine (like, if i need to turn the picture sideways and save it as separate file, i could supply a bat file and a command-line picture editor with the mod, and tell us...

Re: Fire Beam useless?

Theoretically, fire beam is much better at dealing with systems than pike beam, because pike beam does 1 damage, while fire beam ignites multiple fires per room hit (if done correclty), which in system rooms will result in more than one damage, plus unability to repair the system. Also, theoreticall...

Re: On the topic of Modding

Patience, my friends. Have patience. I'd like to challenge that. Why should people have patience, when all they ask is a recognition of something already done by other people. You dont have to make any tool officlal, you just have to state "we allow any kind of mods that do not redistribute as...

Re: On the topic of Modding

Well, if modding requires redistribution, then fix it. Seriously, its so easy to make the game first look for files in the folder with the .dat archive, and then look for files in the .dat archive that comes with the game (and contains your precious assets you no doubt do not want to allow to redist...
