I've experimented with this before, and the answer is no. Bomb artillery weapons only target the enemy ship.

A minor update intended to address a major criticism of this ship: If a ship requires luck to begin with, that means 50% of the time you will not get that luck, which means 50% of your runs are already doomed to fail from the start. This is a simple mod that removes artillery from stores when playing Captain's Edition , in case you're flying a modded ship which doesn't have the option to install artiller...

I will try to push for a GB 1.3 this month perhaps and try to get your fix in though no promises. It should include some new weapons soon but as soon as I run into errors with those new weapons (which happens half the time) I think I might need to drop them... As for updating ship graphics mid-fight, the only way I can think to do that is making the entire ship a weapon animation.
