To be perfectly honest, I have no idea how folder structures work.

Re: Introduce me to modding

.ftl files mirror the game's archives' internal structure. So your .ftl file is supposed to look like this, for example: my_mod.ftl |- data/ |- animations.xml.append |- blueprints.xml.append |- img/ |- weapons/ |- example_sprite8.png Since your weapons are using the sprites that are in the game by ...

Nothing. You are using animations that are already in the game.

Ok, just one more thing, where do I put my weapon file in the FTL file?

Looks fine to me. You put it in a blueprints.xml.append file.

Now what do I put in the animations.xml.append file?

Re: Introduce me to modding

I once made a 0 power weapon by mistake, and it seemed to work properly. You just couldn't turn it off, but it worked. WhiteWeasel: If you want to use the same sprite and animations of an existing weapon, just include the <weaponArt> tag of that weapon in yours. If i recall correctly, <iconImage> i...

Re: Introduce me to modding

Sadly I am inexperienced with animations, I think you have to copy the animations for the weapon sprite you were using and rename the things to your stuff. Sorry I suck at animations ^^; I'm in the same boat. In addition, where is the folder you get the weapons code so I know where to put my new la...

Re: Introduce me to modding

If it's a pure reskin with the same sprite, will I have to do any animations? Like this? <weaponBlueprint name="LASER_FAST_1"> <!-- #essential --> <type>LASER</type> <!-- #essential --> <title>Fast Recharge Laser</title> <!-- #essential --> <short>F.R. Laser</short> <!-- #essential --> <de...

Re: Introduce me to modding

1) Yes, how ever all the actual 'function' part of augments is hardcoded, unless you can hack then you can't make your own augment, that and it will cut into what Kieve said. so 2 no-no's. What makes it ok for ships and weapons to be modded, but not augments? 4) Well, as I said before you can't alt...

Re: Introduce me to modding

Alright, I'm trying to follow this tutorial http://www.ftlgame.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=12&t=17122 , but I got lost on this part: Now for the actual coding: You will only be using XML language to change values within some predetermined tags. I hope you are familiar with xml and html, if not you...
