All you need to be able to jump is to have one of your crew in the cockpit; it doesn't matter what they're doing. If they aren't actually manning the station then you don't get their skill bonus to evasion, but that's it.

Did you see the entire sector at once, or did you only get information on a new zone once you were within a jump of it? In the former case, you just downloaded a map of the sector from the enemy ship.

It mostly influences the types of ships you encounter. Mantis zones mean lots of hand-to-hand combat, Rock zones have lots of missile launchers, etc. Slug zones take place in nebulae and they have a bunch of weird special events.

Are rockmen anatomically correct by humanoid standards? Yes. Considering that "humanoid" just means "shaped vaguely like a human", they are "anatomically correct" in that they have a head, two arms, two legs on which they walk upright, all connected to a central torso....

Yeah, I really doubt that the devs are making gameplay changes right now -- their priority is just to fix the bugs that are keeping people from playing the game they paid for. I've also heard that the Rockman ships are the easiest to win with. I'd believe it for the A ship anyway -- that thing is a ...

Enemy ships do run out of missiles and drones. They're just willing to expend way more of them in any given fight than the player is. It doesn't bug the enemy ship to throw 15 missiles at you, while the player would want that many missiles to last at least an entire sector most of the time. The flag...

(and especially bomb weapons, of which the flagship has none at all) I could have sworn the left most weapon on the flagship was an ion bomb.. 2nd from the left is a heavy burst laser, third is a 3 missile rocket launcher and fourth is the beam weapon. what is the left most if its not an ion bomb? ...

The worst RNG I've ever experienced in this game was on the Zoltan Cruiser's B-layout. The very first jump put me in an asteroid field against an enemy ship that had a beam drone. On another note, does anyone else find the rebel ships in sector 8 ridiculously hard? Not the flagship, but just its little escorts. I seem to be killed by them way more often than the flagship. The flagship actually has a very weak offense in the first and third phases. It has only one shield-pier...
