Are you entering the directory with the .xml files or the directory above that to pack the .dat file? You need to enter the directory with the /data/ directory in order to preserve the correct .dat file structure. E.g. when you use "Extract all..." the directory you choose must be the sam...

What program did you use to change the game files? Maybe you could upload the changed files somewhere so we can take a look? Yep, r4, and I changed the laser on the Kestrel from "LASER_BURST_3" to "LASER_BURST_5" and changed the damage of that laser to 4.

Ah yes, I tried using the editor to pack it but again, the file gave me that error. Same with notepad. Same with the python packer... Only "mod" I've got to work so far is CaptainShooby's no rebel mod.
