I believe that the first event can happen in any sector now. Try visiting nodes that display Distress Beacons, as the pods now transmet distress signals.
I've had 3 pods in 1 game at the most, yet still not been able to complete the "event", only stages 1 & 2. :|

There is only so many times you can play through this? :-P I'm rockin' 84 hours thus far. Still loving it and I am still trying to get all the ships. The devs have stated before that there will be a continue after the main quest. I'm loving the variation in gameplay styles, using the different ships...

I am not sure if this was another of the Crystal Race quest starts, but I found a crystaline ship in an asteroid field, but could not get to it as apparently the asteroids were too thick and I had to leave... TWICE in the same sector! Torture! heh. And immediately after was the Zoltar Homeworld Sect...

Or maybe just with the Long Range Scanners?
The Stealth Ship would be a tad easier before getting shields, and it would make it a worthwhile aug for other ships too

Well reasoned Bushman, that should also stop any of the possibilities of "cheating" by loading older saves without quiting properly. I'd love a save on quit, as a few others said, I also play fairly slowly so that a good run can take an hour or more. Sometimes life does get in the way and ...

I do agree that more people buying the game is good, and I personally wouldn't be bothered by others who missed the opportunity to join in through the kickstart program paying and being allowed into the beta. It's not like this is the only game which will have a closed beta. There are a lot of games...

Really like the Close All Doors button too, that is a really good idea that I can see would save a lot of time.
Is that an Open All Doors button just below it too? That could be bad! LOL

And those Mantis guys are really tough in hand to hand combat! Eeek! LOL
