The only way you could beat 5 mantis with 3 zoltan provided you have level 1 doors is if you vent the whole ship and fight in the medbay, but then you wouldn't be able to send anyone out to do repairs. If you vent the ship like that 3 of the mantis should end up running into the medbay before long,...

No it's not. I think you need to re-check what roguelike means. Also the Civ games, as far as I'm aware, can't put you in a situation where you CAN'T win due to luck, assuming you weren't doing stupid things up until that point. Most strategy games have random worlds and luck, when you lose your last city defender in Civilization despite a 95% win chance, thats bad luck, but it doesnt make it a roguelike, neither do the random worlds Civ creates.
