Finally did it!

You have no idea how much trouble I've had with the Vortex (seems like it always has the absolute worst luck), but I finally won with it! Since this completes my collection, I made a nifty hall-of-fame dealio to celebrate! http://i.imgur.com/NB7pGiv.png Now I can finally go back to... whatever I did...

Re: What's the most overpowered run you've ever gotten?

On normal: Mantis B (4 mantis, 3 engi, 1 rock), cloak, burst mk3, mk2 drones w/ recovery arm. I had almost a thousand extra scrap by sector 8, but I ended up being 40 scrap away from being fully decked-out.

Re: scary system req's for netbook users?

I'm sure those numbers were meant for the Windows version. My laptop (Dual-core Turion 2.2ghz, dedicated ATI 3850) can't always play it full speed while using my Win7 boot.

Re: The most infuriating encounter in the game.

Worst encounter? The Mantis refugee that boards your ship: no blue options and a healthy chance at taking 5 damage either way you swing it.

Re: Ubuntu 12.10 - FTL crash at startup

Had the same issue, Vind's solution of deleting "libstdc++.so.6" from the FTL folder worked for me! (fresh install of Ubuntu 12.10 x64, since the lastest proprietary Catalyst driver didn't play nice with the last installation)

Re: Weapon Pre-igniter augmentation should be debuffed?

The only time I found it useful enough to purchase was after I found a burst mk3 and lost everyone except my pilot due to something silly that I did, but I had to put off upgrading shields or engines past 4 bars (in favor of weapons) until sector 7. That said, it is absolutely deadly if you combine ...

:D I still seem to always decide against upgrading doors until something like this happens.

Re: Boarding the Flagship

I like boarding the boss, since it makes taking out the shields and those damn drones so much easier (goodbye, boarding drone!) The systems will repair themselves though, just like on the other AI ships. Biggest problems are killing off so many crew when the ship has lv3 medbay, and making sure your...

Re: Emily

This was inspired by my first playthrough on normal, with the Basilisk. I've got to pay more attention to boarders :(

Emily

Hassifa was not a great captian. Sure there was always Nikola there for support, and together they "liberated" every slave ship they ever came across, but Emily had chosen to follow them. She chose us. She did everything asked of her without question: when Hassifa said they would tear apar...
