Re: I thought this is the worst ship I have...

Engi B? Starting with only one crew is going to be rough.

Stealth A has very very high pain potential c/o lack of shields and fairly long initial cloak cooldown if you run into a ship with drones early on, or you miss with the dual lasers and fail to drop a shield.

Re: Weaponless Run

Though drones can be used as a weapon, they aren't technically... There had to be some way to get through the boss' shield, otherwise it would be fun to try a game with neither weapons nor drones. :) I think a fun challenge would be to start without weapons (Crystal or Mantis B) and then rotate to ...

Re: Rock or Mantis?

Fire + rock is indeed very very powerful, although you can go entire runs without seeing any fire-focused weapon (albeit other weapons do often have a small chance of causing fire) unless you're using the one rock ship which starts with a fire bomb (but no teleporter ;)). Mantis speed is handy for e...

Re: Worst Sector Generation Ever

Hmm. A map in which it was even possible to get lost, but one where the graph wasn't even a single connected component, the vast majority of the map was completely impossible to reach, and the one accessible component had a completely forced route? Bizarre.

Re: Think I broke the record for most boarders on board my s

With the boarders-at-star event, if you're not strong enough that you're sure you can handle them AND the usual fires AND another fight; and the sector topology allows, consider jumping backwards to a known safe area to try to stabilize the situation first.

Re: Crystal Guns

IIRC, crystals have the unwritten drawback that they can be shot down by even Mk I defense drones as if they were missiles or asteroids, making them somewhat less reliable if you're not spamming other targets for the drones at the same time. AFAIK, they're pretty much impossible to get other than us...

Re: Finally beat the game with unusual (?) crew

It's quite rare unless you're starting with either Crystal Cruiser variant (in which case you'll have 2 or 3). Two Burst Laser Mk II is also a bit unusual, I think.

Crystal + Mantis is indeed nasty; Mantises have the most combat power, Crystal prevents escape.

Re: Eternal Death

That does indeed work. ;) BL2s are welcomed by just about everybody -- 3-shot burst for 2 power. A teleporter is the most versatile weapon if you have the crew to go with it (2 non-Engi/Zoltan, preferably Mantis, Crystal or Rock), since it bypasses all defenses except Zoltan shields and cloak. Breac...

Re: Your "Fuck you, FTL" Moments

Ditto on the Slug ship frustration... I just had an otherwise *excellent* run with the Basilisk (ended up fully upgraded -- yeah, Easy level; was rewarded a BL3 early on and sold it to buy a BL2 in the very next beacon; had a three mantis/1 crystal/1 engie/1 slug/1 rock crew), marred by only two thi...

Re: Obtaining the slug cruiser

I don't believe so. In particular, my impression is that it's not a *specific* ship which surrenders, but more like there is a random probability for a slug ship to offer a surrender *if you damage their hull enough*. Wiping out the crew while leaving the target ship basically intact doesn't seem to...
