It doesn't affect performance at all ;)

Also, I just can't play the game without this mod. Beautiful to look at, yet fits perfectly with the game.

A shame you don't have the time to finish this, it had great potential (also since I'm a huge fan of Mass Effect ^_^)

Quick question as I haven't noticed it in the OP.

Does this disable achievements? Do you think it would be possible to implement it in a different clickable menu?

Anyway, this looks really good, I'm looking forward to seeing this grow.

LOL, welcome to FTL. Anyways, while yes it is possible to have terrible starts in this game (I've had my ship blow up on the first fight), once you get to understand the game it really isn't that hard. The initial hump is to get shields lvl 2 ASAP, and a bit more offense then you're good for a whil...

Is this compatible with the High-Res Background graphics mod or is this basically the same mod but with some tweaks?

Because it looks great, and I would love to install it, but I was planning on installing the other mod first.
