I'm going to be different! I like Dual lasers. Three shots for two power is nice. But two shots for one power is even more efficient!
Later in the game their efficiency doesn't matter, but early on they are incredibly handy for squeezing out all the offense you can.

Drone systems, hands down. Teleportation and cloaking are nice, but a defense drone cuts out half of the lethality of virtually any ship you run across. And after all, you can't kill the enemy for tons of scrap if you are already dead. Augmentations would go to long range scanners. Identifying hazar...

Events where enemies board your ship are not supposed to be lucrative, just unlucky. Just thought it was worth mentioning that shields don't really have any consistancy if you're using the Stealth Cruiser. If you gather 150 scrap and find a store, there's no guarantee it'll be selling a Shield system. If there is no guarantee.. well it seems high when i play, the system im missing ...

When a sequel hopefully comes, the majority of changes to interface, like individual autofire and extra hotkeys, are kind of obvious benefits. As for the game play changes I can agree with missiles. I have a new found respect for The Basilisk. It may be one of my favorite ships at this point. It starts with two shields, a drone system, AND a four man teleporter. Auto-fire, pause buttons, and cloak buttons are good suggestions. It's just a matter of convenience that should be easy to add. I also agree on the health bars. Well, ships will vary with what counts as defense of course. I meant more of that defense scales with enemies. On the stealth ships you buy your higher stealth to avoid damage, on other ships you buy shields; both types of ships buy engines and at some point can buy the missing component of shields ...
