IIRC, system modifications should be in blueprints.xml (and by extension blueprints.xml.append) . They appear ahead of the ship specification.
What are you working on, if I might ask?

Re: Ship-buiding help
You should be able to select and drag weapon mounts in the Superluminal editor. Otherwise, you can manually edit the XML to adjust their mount coordinates, though that's not an ideal solution.

Re: Ship Editing Problem.
Please give more details about the crash. Please upload your .ftl file (to a file hosting website) so other users can download the code. Off the top of my head, it looks like you've got an artillery system. Maybe it's because the artillery weapon hasn't been set. It could be a mismatched XML tag. Tr...

Re: Hard-coded FTL Modding
@Fallen Currently the only active work is with BFrizzleFoShizzle, and possibly Northern Warrior (if they show up again). Both of these are DLL injection, and not attempts to rewrite the game. John Luke Pack Hard was trying to rewrite FTL from scratch, in their thread "A Drive for Overdrive"...

Re: [SHIP] Elite:FTL Federal Gunship
Beautiful artwork! I love how menacing they look, and the shading is subtle but works well. The layout pics (with the darkened UI) are slick too.
The Felicia layout has an artillery weapon; what is it? Standard Artillery Beam, or something custom?

Re: Hard-coded FTL Modding
Is this project still open? I'd like to contribute, if possible. I'd also like to check if this project is within legal grounds, as John Luke Pack Hard's Overdrive thread got shuttered by copyright.

Re: A drive for Overdrive
STATUS UPDATE, MORNING OF 5/6/07: The artist sent back a finished product last night and an invoice. The finished product looks nice and fits our specifications! Also, it's completely different from subset games's background, meaning it belongs strictly to our team. I'm confused. It really doesn't ...

Re: Hard-coded FTL Modding
Thanks for the clarification on terminology, BFrizzleFoShizzle. (I've seen that image before, it's hilarious, but I shudder thinking about it every time) I might be interested in collaborating, and it's definitely an interesting project. But even though I took a course that involved assembly, I woul...

Re: A drive for Overdrive
I have a healthy interest in this project, and I check this thread daily. But I won't be able to seriously commit my time to this until summer break rolls around. Though my preferred languages are C++ and Python, I should be able to apply principles of OOP and good code to Java. (And I do know Java,...
