I did some Google searches about "NVIDIA MCP61 HDA", but did not find anything particularly relevant. Your issue looks like it happens at a lower level than FTL itself. The start log shows that everything seems fine from the FTL point of view. Do you get this sound issue with other softwar...

Can you post the output of the game when you start it from the command line? Also, anything you could find in the logs in the game directory.
