Re: DO upgraded engines really give you more time in each se

What Gorlom said. ;) I think people skim read the engine upgrade help, and misunderstand what it says.

Re: Did the update break asteroid fields?

I haven't seen this, and I've played 4 games with the patch (including the beta, which I assume was the same code). I've been in asteroid fields in all 4 and I haven't noticed a significant difference, at least in terms of the amount of damage. I'll pay more attention, but I think you ran into a run...

Re: FTL Beta Patch on Steam

I tried a couple of games at 1920 x 1200 and 1680 x 1050, with stretching on both. Worked great. Thanks for the update. I actually prefer windowed mode, but I like a little higher resolution than default

Thanks for the patch and a great game!

Re: Your dumbest FTL moments

I do minor stupid moves on a regular basis, but I just went for gold. Playing Kestrel, I had 8 crew members of 5 races, starting sector 3, and had just got a teleporter. I'm still just getting up to speed on boarding, so it's always exciting when I get it together. On my second melee fight, I got di...

Re: Should I get this game?

Asking on a game forum is looking for bias, but that being said: Pros: Huge replay value. Surprising amount of different tactics. So cheap it's silly. So good it's addictive. Cons: Most likely to rage-quit game ever (that's still really good). Random rolls vs rewards and player skill are a little un...

Re: Purchased on steam, how to install on linux

I'm excited for the Linux version. If I'd realized (i.e. researched) the differences of the different versions, I'd have skipped the Steam purchase and come right here. I bought the game on Steam, played about 10 hours, loved it, then heard there was a non-DRM version with extras on gog. FTL is wort...

Re: Who are the good guys?

My response was a quote from Army of Darkness. It seemed appropriate though not technically true. The game is vague enough that you can come up with your own story and rationale for any playthrough. Some of the dialogue implies that the Rebels aren't nice folks, but we don't know that the Federation...

Re: Unfair

I'm on the it IS fun side of the argument. This aspect of the game is manageable by the player, so it's OK in my book. You know about how fast they're moving, and you have a choice about whether you want to risk being far away from the exit. You either play it safe and get near the exit early, or yo...

Re: Do you think that the community is demanding too much?

I've only seen a few demands, but I've seen a lot of suggestions and requests. And I've seen a lot of posts from people who can't tell the difference. It's an interesting phenomenon in game forums to see people who apparently tie their personal identities into a game--made by other people--and can't...
