Re: "Failed to create secure directory" error - Ubuntu

Well...figured out what the issue was.

I've been putting this computer to sleep so many times without restarting it, and I needed to re-authenticate by logging out and back in. Problem solved.

[SOLVED] "Failed to create secure directory" error - Ubuntu

Getting this error when running on Ubuntu:

"Failed to create secure directory (run/user/1000/pulse): Permission denied"

I have updated Ubuntu since the last time I played. I'm assuming that's why I'm suddenly getting this error.

Re: Easy Question! What do I type to start FTL on Linux

I never have (my gaming box is Windows), but I assume there's an executable binary for it. Do "ls -l" to see the files. You're looking for "ftl" or something like that. Then type "./" followed by that name. So if it is indeed ftl you'd type "./ftl" Though fre...

Easy Question! What do I type to start FTL on Linux

I'm not great on Linux, and I haven't played FTL for months, but today I brought my Ubuntu laptop to the office, and thought it would be fun to play FTL here and there throughout the day. The problem is that I've forgotten the command to run FTL. I can get into the FTL folder, but there's some speci...

Re: Your "Fuck you, FTL" Moments

After many, many games I finally got a crystal crew member while using the Mantis ship. I was so excited to try the "lockdown" ability. Just as I beam a mantis and crystal over to an enemy ship, the game screen goes gray and I get a video card error (first I've ever seen in my life). The g...

Re: Admiring the code

I enjoy the game more than most I've paid for. The code may be admirable for a number of reasons, but I have to wonder why a game that is so graphically unsophisticated, and spends most of its time paused, hogs so much of my system's resources that my machine's fan has to kick up to the highest sett...

Re: Why does cloaking stop weapon charging?

The OP is not carrying out his own rational to its logical conclusion. If cloak does not prevent charging because modern systems can acquire firing resolution in milliseconds. Why does systems even need to charge? Shouldn't all weapons just fire without wait times? Actually, I had considered that, ...

Re: Why does cloaking stop weapon charging?

Game balance. If cloaking didn't stop weapon charging, it would lose at LEAST 50% of its effectiveness. It makes no sense and I won't even bother hand waving, but I love it this way and anybody who plays the DA-SR12 should too :) No, I get that without this functionality the cloak would be barely w...

Why does cloaking stop weapon charging?

The one aspect of the game that doesn't make sense to me is the fact that when a ship cloaks, the weapons systems on the opposing ship stop charging. I'm trying to come up with a rational for why that would be? I thought about the idea that what I thought was a power build-up period is actually time...

Re: Losing Crew Unfairly!

I've only been playing for a couple of weeks, but this seems like one of those things that you get with a game that's all about attention to detail. The first four times I tried using the crew transporter I killed the crew or lost them to an FTL jump. 1. Transported crew to a automatic drone and the...
