Neat! The reduced time pressure should allow for more options, and more options allows for more decisions, and that's roguelike as hell.

Twelve hours of play in, I think I've seen a good portion of the depth available. (With the help of online mechanic references.) I'll enjoy it a whole lot longer, but I think I've run out of surprises :)

What I would love is for the devs to either:

1) Pull a Toady or Notch. An endless development business model!
2) Open source it, and let the community do what communities do. Retain some sort of governing authority, and hope that eventually something like Nethack will result.

Sounds like a control issue.

Have you tried taking out enemy weapons (and whatever's near them) with your first volley, and using the cloak to avoid their first volley?

It won't work in all cases (zoltan shields/drones/oh god mantis boarders) but should be effective.
