Re: What do you wish was in FTL?

Actually this could be done in a mod, I think. I've never played with this but I'm starting to think of a "Better Spiders" mod :) Hey, if you're a modder, go nuts. I think it could be pretty boss. I'm not sure whether the game engine and UI as it stands would allow a large, scrollable map...

Re: FTL fan-made board game (Can this go here?)

Printable paper version (First Edition!) of this is available for those who are interested. For now please PM me for link or send an e-mail to terry.biel@gmail.com. Only thing requested in particular is info on the ship configuration at the end of the game. Any and all other feedback is of course we...

Re: What do you wish was in FTL?

Here's one, unless it's been mentioned: Away Teams. The mechanics already exist for crew to fight and move around and such. So how about on those encounters where you fight no-joke giant spiders or have a station that is on fire, you get to select some number of crew to send over and play it out. Yo...

FTL fan-made board game (Can this go here?)

Hi! I'm working on a board game that was originally supposed to be about building and selling startups, but which mutated over time into a spaceship and mining game. The mechanics are inspired by a bunch of my favorites, from Settlers of Catan to Munchkin to DOTA to FTL. And, in fact, I reached out ...

Re: Android Port

As boa13 mentioned above the devs have indeed announced that they're looking into ports to tablets, and if that's the case there's no reason to think they wouldn't check into mobile devices while they're at it. Does anyone know if they've finished all the extras for their Kickstarter backers? That m...

Re: Forum restrictions for new users!

Can someone smarter than me explain why a bot would exist that posts messages that are not even advertising? Just to establish an identity before later being used to post more traditional spam?

Or was that somebody being funny?

Re: New Enemy Classes 0.95

I think it's more of the fault of the AI, but the Rebel Repair Ship class just spams the Hull Repair Drone until it runs out of parts. I usually didn't get to start doing damage until it runs out, so it's a bit pointless for the ship to have it unless you can change how it uses them. Just change th...

Re: Having a viable missile ship/bombship

Personally I love the missile mechanic in that they really do function as an artillery weapon. Artillery don't themselves win battles; instead they allow the user to change the dynamic of the battle and bring other elements to bear in a more advantageous way. Think of catapults knocking down walls o...

Re: FTL's Font?

It looks a lot like the Command & Conquer: Red Alert font. If it's not that, it's pretty close. Take a look at http://www.whatfontis.com/CC-Red-Alert-INET.font

Re: ftl multiplayer?

It would be difficult to work out mechanics that allow head-to-head without seriously distorting or breaking the mechanics of the game. FTL is sort of a turn-based game packed into a smooth implementation of time; it allows the player to dictate where the "turns" occur. In a head-to-head g...
