What is the point of this? You can't defend against that many boarders as your first action in the game, especially if you disable the medbay.

Oh. I just learned that the option does not apply if you are playing in full screen. Is there a work around for this? I like playing in full screen with the "stretch" option so everything is nice and big and easy to see. I was really disappointed when I realized the defocus option is lost ...

Don't feel too bad ... I was going crazy trying to figure out how to stop the game from pausing. For me, I like to find an enemy early game who can't damage me; then I sit and let him attack while I level up my shields, engine, and pilot.
