Graphics problem (steam, pc)

I have been having a pretty severe graphics problem with the game that has made it not technically unplayable, but distracting to the point that I choose to not play it. There is a lot of 'twitching' in the graphics. Nothing I can screenshot, but the backgrounds and menus are constantly flickering and there are lines streaking across the screen essentially at random. It seems to have followed a windows update and despite reinstalling, the problem persists. Am i doomed?

I think I have the same problem! I tried to capture some video of it:

The problem isn't constant. It comes up most in battle and on the jump page.

I am using Windows 7 on a brand new Macbook Air 13". The video chipset is Intel HD5000. I have tried all of the following things:
-uninstalling and reinstalling the game
-restarting the laptop
-turning all of the game's graphics options on and off (with restarts in between)
-changing the power settings
-the "swapTexture=1" trick detailed here
-playing with the graphics card's 3D settings
-running the game as administrator
-running the game with compatibility mode for Windows XP (SP2, and SP3)
-running the game with 'disable visual themes" / "disable desktop composition" and "disable display scaling on high DPI settings" compatibility settings

My laptop is currently running a whole bunch of other games without any problem: Risk of Rain, Abyss Odyssey and Light.

The game is currently unplayable for me, I'd love a fix.

Have you guys tried installing the most up to date drivers:

Assuming you're all using a Windows 7, 64 bit system with an Intel HD 5000 card, those should be the most up to date and out of date drivers would be the most likely cause for graphical glitches like that.

Same problem here as well, HD4400, 64bit windows 8.

I'm running on a Samsung ultra portable with a 4x HD resolution, maybe that's part of the problem? Considering babbyunit uses a Macbook Air.
