[SHIP] The Zodiac and The Moebius - Updated

-Engi Beam Drone speed is reduced
-Engi Beam Drone rarity increased
-Zodiac (should) cost 250 to get working shield, 150 to buy the system, 100 to upgrade it to level 2.
-The Moebius now has 2 weapon slots. Not 3.

Engi Drone Harbour nerfed
-no more starting teleporter
-Mantis swapped with Zoltan
-Engi Heavy Laser has longer recharge.
-No hull repair drone
-Scrap Recovery Arm swapped with Hull repair arm.

New drone added to the A, moves faster then the regular drones and slight fire rate change, to prevent the drones clustering up together and firing at the same laser/missile/asteroid.

Drone Harbour B added!

This ship is not overpowered, it's oversized, it slightly challenging, It's fun, but not overpowered.

Quick Message: This is my 2nd mod on the forums and (technical) 3rd ship here. This is my first ship with modded weapons and drone.
Oh and it does fit in game, just not in hanger sort off.
Also due to how big the shield bubble is, The drones got a worse response time to projectiles, as a method of not making it OP once it gets 1 shield.

What is the "Hard" ships?
Typically, it halves everything besides sytem levels and other obvious things.
This includes but not limited to... starting crew, starting weapons, Starting drones, etc.
This also includes a reduction of 50% of the hull, from vanilla (30) hull to mod (A: 50, B:40) hull, making 40 hull for the A and 35 hull for the B. This is for people who found the normal ship to easy.

Short Story: This ship is the largest ship of the Engi brigade of the Federation Fleet.
It got an outstanding amount of drone bays and weapon mounts,The drones serve mostly for Defence
for the large colossus of a ship, it got a really durable haul and it has nearly every system available and there is plenty of room for those to be installed. But this ship is terribly slow and was originally made to have Zoltans as well with Engi's to man it. But a recent attack has many of them dead or wounded and even worse, the shields were crippled and needed to be removed. The only Brightside of that attack was there as a enemy survivor, a Mantis. Who was healed in the advance medbay and dedicated to work onboard The Zodiac.

How ever he's to eager to start fighting the enemy and makes the Engi's concerned on what choices will be made by him.
"74.445% chance of starting another war with other alien species. Chance of survival: Low"


Unique/ stand outs:
50 hull points.No starting Cloak or Sheilds.
High amount of crew and systems / system level.
High amount of starting drones + weapons
low reactor.
3 augments at start.
250 Scrap to get operational shields, 150 to buy the system, 100 to upgrade it to level 2. (unconfirmed)

Tip:

-upgrade drones ASAP, the more defense drones the less UP you are and more OP you get.
-Beams and Bombs are the bane of your existence, make sure to take those weapons out before things get ugly.
-upgrade weapons after you get drone level 4-6+
-use the Engi ability to repair and take fires out fast.

Cheat/ abuse: (if you do these your a dirty little abuser/ cheater :roll: )

-abuse the hull repair drone + drone recovery arm to FTL before the Drone disappears if you're really struggling.
-send your mantis in and run around the ship, preventing some degree of repairs and distracting there crew

Tips:
-Get more drone power, not weapon or shield power.
-Keep your medbay on most of the time, the nano-bots will heal your crew more effectively then healing only when your crew are dying. the medbay is only 1 person.

60% slower then regular beam drone. but still got enough positives to make it better, can peirce 1 layer of shield but does 1 damage then.

==================( Methods of Balance and Explanations)==========================
(You do not need to read this, just for the curious and complainers)

Med nano bots: it is a signature augment for engi ships, this is a engi ship, I do not put rockplate on it or put slug repair gel on the Kestrel do I?
+100 scrap for shields: to not make you invincible to easy to fast
High crew: Bigger ship, Bigger crew.
Mantis: He is there because of an ironic twist, it was captured by the Engi.
Slots: It is a class "Flagship" ship? you want it to start with 1 basic laser and a system repair drone?
Med bay to Teleporter distance: to balance it for having a 4 man teleporter + all the other goodies it already has.
Names: The vanilla ships are named after things that have holes and typically ring like or donut, so I name these ships with the same theme.
Hard: Some people found it to easy

Anyone want to add anything before I do the minor update (black box mouse for weapon group 5)?

Any balance concerns? other bugs? issues?

I am planning to possibly make the 4 defense drones all different with the same power requirement.

Well looks like I got one of my life goals complete...

I feel a bit bad, I was going to update it just now, add a B variant, fix weapon group 5 black box mouse issue.
etc.

Anyway I am really happy you did a lets play on one of my ships :D Huge fan of your series, I am now more focused on releasing the update ASAP and yea. ^^;

My god those beam drones.
For the type B, I suggest you lose two of the beam drones. I managed to get all four of them going by the end, and they literally killed phase two of the flagship in 10 seconds when I just had a heavy ion and a pair of dual lasers. So, either cut them down to one damage each, or lose two of them. I really, really enjoyed the runs I did with both of these ships (except when I got a rockman; argh) but the type B is overpowered right now.

This is not a negative review; I really liked it. But since you nerfed the type A (and it needed nerfing) that's my advice on how to nerf the type B.

Hello again, good sir.

It's me, that fellow from Reddit who critiqued your ship. How are you doing?

You mod piqued my interest, so I decided to give it a shot with your changes.

The repair arm was an interesting handicap, addressing your previous hull concerns and also hamstringing scrap intake. The starting crew was still quite powerful, and the weapon setup quite strong and versatile to begin with.

The repair arm, medi-bots, and one or two drones were burned for scrap early on. I heavily leaned on the drone recovery arm for drone use, purposefully picking up an Anti-Ship I to make further use of it for offensive power, and finding an Engi Beam I (not even realizing that it was 2-damage beam until later, which is incredibly good). Lack of hull was almost never an issue. I don't think I dropped below 20 at any point.

To illustrate the strength of the ship, I opted to play it completely shieldless. I spent most of the game hunting for Stealth Weapons, to setup an unbeatable ion+stealth+drone combo. While the augment never fell into my lap, I still managed to make use of that tactic despite having to weave shots between cloaks and dealing with the reduced stealth time. Teleporting was used almost exclusively to crew cull the Flagship with surgical strikes to medbay while a rag-tag team disabled weapons and fought the crew.

I completed the run, shieldless, on Normal.

All in all, it was a very fun run, with the strong drones more than making up for the weakness of starting without a shield. I believe that some of my original concerns may still stand, but it is certainly a new and interesting take on the 'shieldless' style ship that we see with Stealth A+B and Zoltan B.
