"Research." Targon explained the project he and Dyxie were attempting to create. "I'm going to ask her if I can copy some of her mainframe onto the computer I have. I thought you would know where she is because you're manning the doors."

Nazia was sitting in the middle of her room, surrounded by the junk metal that she had scrounged from the cargo hold. Taking a sizable piece of steel, she shoved it in her body. After squirming around with it for a while, she pulled it out. It was turned into a mace head, designed for crumbling doors as if they were tinfoil. She took it and fashioned the thing on one side of her makeshift two-handed battering ram that she had melded previously. Taking another chunk, she repeated the process and made a shredding four-pronged pike blade. After she finished the two attachments, her weapon was complete. She had decided to make it a while ago, since there didn't seem to be many manning positions left in the ship and as Arkangel appeared to be the only boarder she figured she'd go that route.

With that, her char sheet

Name: Nazia
Race: Lanius
Occupation: Former: station bruiser, exploration escort, asteroid miner, translator. Most recent: mercenary
Skills:"Breach and Clear" fighting, navigation
Weak points: repairing things
Enjoys: apathy
Dislikes: Commiting to a long-term goal
Secrets:
Appearance: bleach color
Rank: no official rank
Age: 2 years

In earth terms, Nazia was like one of those college students who barely passed with a "general" major and didn't know what to do. She'd been created around the time there was a new influx of Lanius boarding and not enough demand. The day she was made, she was given a hull cutter and a smoke bomb and was sent to a station with her ship's boarding crew of 6. She had known exactly how to use it, of course. She had been preprogrammed to do so.

As stations everywhere started getting adequate oxygen systems in what we now call the, "oxygen revolution", the demand for freelance Lanius boarding had decreased. While Lanius boarding was still very popular, especially with the development of hacking, many Lanius went into hibernation or found new work. Nazia wasn't the type to lay around and do nothing, so she took up a job as a guard for an exploration convoy. While traveling to the far reaches of the galaxy, she learned a diverse array of languages as well as quite a bit of navigational skills from being in contact with professionals in the area.

One fateful day, when she was with a science vessel exploring an uncharted nebula, a slug ship beamed in. It easily deprived the crew of oxygen with its breach bomb and hacking module. It was one of the risks in venturing through lowsec space. She knew she couldn't fight off a whole ship full of crew, so she simply left the ship as the only survivor. After drifting in space for about a day or so, an asteroid mining company took her in for her ability to mine without a space suit. There, she overheard all sorts of things and learned quite a few skills, but risking her life through treacherous and rusty asteroid fields soon got tiring. When a relatively friendly Lanius ship came to the station she was at to trade, she took the first opportunity to join them as a translator. While she did not mind the ship, the job she was given soon bored her as well. Thankfully, the nature of her ship gave her an opportunity. As soon as a ship came to trade with hers, she changed the prices a little bit as to make the trade unfavorable during the translating process. She hinged her plan on the assumption that the ship was in a dire need of a translating device, and it paid off. While the captain was surprised to find a Lanius in his cargo hold, Cathos allowed her into his crew.

(As for the absences:
I recently PMed Omega King, asking him if he was willing to come back to the RP. He never responded, not even with a "no", so it's wise not to trust him on coming back.
As for The Bear, I didn't even remember he existed. I will PM him soon. As for kestrelfan, I think he's still in it, just not posting very often, which isn't a problem at all.
As a slight word of warning, I most likely won't post tomorrow from 10:00AM to sometime at night. Just hope I will post, but assume I won't post.)

Quintet began to charge the FTL drives. The ship was stirring with new crew, questions, and discussion. He had no intent on bothering this, as it was useful for familiarizing new members, so he carried on thinking of something else to do.

"Oh, and by the way, the two new crew-members should probably grab a headset out of the armaments room. It's off the oxygen systems.
I just remembered - I haven't done a proper introduction!

I am Quintet model one. The one behind the powerful reasoning and systems of many famous federation ships and missions from the beginning of the federation. I was there for the test flight of the Kestrel, and for the first cooperation deals with the engi. I was there when the feds made peace treaties with massive mantis tribes. I piloted the mission to save the engi from massive mantis over-rule through a live crossfire in the middle of an asteroid field manually.
Then.. a few things happened, and I became a genocidal maniac capable of killing anyone and ending anything I pleased.
I was behind the con schemes that moved money into the hands of mantis and left the feds reeling. I was behind the mass genocides that destroyed the mantis defense that was the only thing keeping the mantis from taking over vital tactical land.
And then here I am!"
"There isn't good or bad. There's just insane."
"Blamsauce!"

Sorry for the short post, I didn't know what else to put here

"It looks like she went into her quarters a little while ago," Kr responded. "I'll go with you if you don't mind, I don't have anything better to do."

Ignoring the fact that he'd apparently battled against Quintet multiple times, and lost in all of them but one, which ended in a draw, Cathos stood up and went to the oxygen room to get his headset. On the way, he saw Tabitha working in the kitchen. Famished, he stepped in.

"Wow, these don't look as terrible as I expected them to be." he said, scanning the sushi. He looked at her.

"Can I try one?"

"Sure. Feel free." Targon walked to Nazia's room with Kr, hoping that she would say yes. He wasn't one to take when he could ask, but the temptation to wirelessly scan the Lanius unbeknownst to them was getting stronger.

The two Mantis stopped at the door and Targon knocked. "Hello? Anyone in there?" He asked.

Tabitha gave a wicked smile to Cathos "Sure, go ahead, try the sushi."
She then went back to work cooking up several chunks of space whale meat. She poured a light marinade on the meat and added a few, proper spices, the smell wafting through the air.
Then order something that isn't raw, she thought to herself.

It's going to backfire, right? Both Targon and Cathos like really spicy food, right?

Targon is okay with normal spicy, but his throat would go pop eating a ghost pepper.

"Thanks." He picked up a piece and popped it into his mouth. Immediately, he felt that something was wrong. In moments, he was hunched over and retching. Tabitha took a break from her cooking to watch, a joyous smile on her face. After he swallowed it strenuously, he turned to her.

"What the... Was that your substitute for wasabi? I guess you didn't know how to make sushi after all." He shook his head.

Sighing, he took four more pieces and shoved them in his mouth without even attempting to reach for a glass of water.

"I mean, you certainly tried. But I'm disappointed." He started out the door.

I had the idea even before you mentioned it.

Nazia practiced with her new weapon after she went to get her headset, making breaches in the sizeable pieces of extra metal. When there was a knock on the door, she propped it on a nearby wall and went to answer the door.

"Yes?"

Tabitha chuckled "I guess I must have been too heavy on the spices" when she saw Cathos retching from the sushi
When he went to criticise the cooking however...
"How dare you!" she shouted, stomping over with a spatula in her hand "Sir, if you wanted a fully stocked gourmet kitchen, you should have bought a ticket on a cruise ship!"
She stood right up to the man and glared "You should be grateful I even had the ingredients for sushi! In case you haven't noticed, THIS IS A MILITARY VESSEL!"
She stormed back to the stove and said "Next time there's shore leave you buy your own damned wasabi, sir! I can't account for every ungrateful wretch who joins this crew and wants raw fish!"
