The following free game is a newer RTS with a TON of detail and things you can do. It's played by a small community of players and was featured on Indie Games a while back. It's a great retro, text style of strategy game where you can take over the world like in Risk, build farms like in Farmville, or summon wizards and make pilgrimages like in [?] Enjoy!

Hi guys, thought I'd chip in here and show a few free indie games that I quite enjoyed.
Forget Me Not Annie - http://www.brandondolinski.com/category ... -download/ a indie horror game where you play as a young girl in possession of telekinetic powers by the name of Annie (funnily enough).
Action Doom 2: Urban Brawl an amazing Doom 2 modification that does not require Doom http://action.mancubus.net/
Cave Story - I think we should all be familiar with this, if not, here is a link http://www.cavestory.org/downloads_game.php
Ikachan - One of Pixel's earlier games where you play as a squid called Ikachan http://www.cavestory.org/othergames_ikachan.php
Commander Keen: Doom of Mars, combines Doom and Commander Keen elements (it's a user made standalone mod) unfortunately I have no link for it but will upload.
It's getting late and my mind's gone blank but will have a search through my laptop for some more indie games that I played which I found too be rather enjoyable.

Just wanted to say I tried Desktop Dungeons a couple of days back and I've been hopelessly addicted since then. I bought the Beta version after just a couple Alpha dungeons. Amazing, heroin-like stuff. Thanks a lot for the tip!

(Already finished Cave Story, and played the hell out of Spelunky and a few others mentioned).

Mad Father. Sorry if somebody else has posted it before, but it is a pretty good horror game for free
It is in german by default, and there are no options to change it, but it should be in english in the menu and in the whole game.

Why isn't Gimbal here. It's awesome, and really should get more attention.

Teeworlds - A fast online 2d shooter, which requires much skill and takes a while of training, but is a TON of fun :D
Features following gamemodes: (Team)deathmatch, Capture The Flag and has many great server-side mods, so you can play a ton of different games in one!
Has cute graphics and a loyal community. I like it! ;)
http://www.teeworlds.com Downloadable for Windows, Linux and Mac!
