I've recently gotten back into FTL and the Multiverse mod really caught my eye, Amma enjoying it again

I was playing FTL like a hundred times and it’s still fun. But it’s a rather simple game and I can't say it's very intensive or even addicting. FTL is just a really well-designed game. What makes it so? What aspects of its gameplay make it so interesting and alluring?
