Latest update:

Finally finished the Weapons controll interface.
Image

Because you can have as many weapons on your ship as there is space, there can be more weapons than can fin in one screen.
Lets make a ship with 12 cannons.
Image

In this case there will be 2 arrow buttons to cycle through all the weapons.
Lets select a target for this shooting monster :)

Bullseye! :)

The crosshair supports up to 12 weapons with an number indicator.
And those 12 projectiles look very nice on the radar. :)

Well, currently there is only one test weapon - the one you see.
Once I get to the point of adding the content to the game: Ships, Systems, Weapons, Drones, Mobs, etc...
Then anything can be added :) - problem is that I still have no images of my own for all that(Ships, Systems, Weapons, Drones, Mobs, etc...)
I'm still hoping that some one who can make such images will get interested in having his work used in this game, and contact me.

I sure will, if anyone can tell me where can I publish this. :)

While it will be in alpha/beta in think it will be free.
And I really hope to earn something from it once it is released.

and is there an estimated release?

Don't want to make any promises, and then not fulfill them.
I will move the list of things I want to have before I release the Alpha, to the second post of this thread.
And will be updating it there as I go along.
That might get you the idea of how soon it will be out playable.

I'm really happy to hear about that :D

Sorry about my talk about far-off futures, I Think ahead a lot :P
Good luck on your project!

Also, one more question, is this a game made from scratch?, if not, what engine are you using?

Made from scratch.
Using libgdx framework - for ease of export to mobile platforms(in the far future :))

Whoops, I completely forgot to reply since I wasn't able to at the moment when I got the email.

Is there AI, and how much?

Not yet, but it will be added.
But I don't really understand the "how much" question :)
How much of AI? - 158477 I think :)

Nice! By how much I meant how prevalent it is, as in, will you be able to hire AI crew if you don't have enough players to man your ship? Will there be AI fights (and I guess you kind of answered this already) if there aren't enough players on the server to keep up the excitement at all times?

If you can leave your ship, does that mean you can do boarding without teleporting?

True :) If you can break in through the doors before your oxygen runs out.
Or you can board a dead ship for salvage.

What about crew fights in space?

Possible, although can't do a lot of fighting in space with few oxygen.
More probably - crew fighting on space stations.
(I was always curious how hard is it to fight with huge alien spiders :))

Maybe there should be upgrades for your character (on top of the basic manning skills like in FTL), oxygen could be one of these (whether it be in equipment form like a secondary O2 tank on your spacesuit or as a physiological upgrade like how you get exhausted more slowly when you're fit) to allow a more space-based gameplay strategy. Maybe one upgrade could also be sabotage (either buying a crowbar or simply getting more skillful at it) so you could break locked doors (and systems, I suppose) faster.

And yay for fighting giant alien spiders!
